Intended for clinicians, supporting rather than replacing clinical judgement. Risk should be calculated from current laboratory values and a recent clinical assessment. The PREVENT equations are validated for adults aged 30–79 without known cardiovascular disease, and should not be used in people with known CVD, severe subclinical CVD (ejection fraction below 40%, or coronary artery calcium of 300 or more), a pathogenic variant for an inherited cardiovascular condition, end-stage kidney disease, or a life expectancy under one year. The equations were developed in US adults, so estimates elsewhere warrant caution, and the Social Deprivation Index predictor applies only to US residents. This is an independent implementation and carries no endorsement from the American Heart Association.
